Time and time again new construction methodologies are being introduced, the old ones are be done away with. This post is about building your house and the best way to do it, and while some should be avoided. So no matter how broke you think you are, there is something I always say, "something done correctly the first time, will not be repeated and by so doing it saves you cost."
BUNGALOWS:
In this particular type of construction, the walls are raised to the roofing level, before the floors are constructed. This is one sure way of spending almost 50% of your initial construction cost within the next five years on repairs.
What to expect: (i) moist walls(peeling paints, whitish stains on walls), cracks, sinking floors, very cold floors, humid air in the home, which of course is bad for health.
 Remedies:
(1) Insist that the ground floor is constructed first before the walls are formed.
(2) Use hollow blocks when constructing your house.
(3) Cement sand paste mix for plastering be of adequate mix ratio.
(4) Beam construction round the full building perimeter, in place of window lintels only.
